Just three games are on the CFL Week 11 schedule. However, each of this week’s contests has serious implications for a playoff picture that is steadily coming into focus. The weekend’s action kicks off in Edmonton, where the Elks face a huge challenge to end a four-game losing streak as they take on the league-leading Winnipeg Blue Bombers as lengthy home underdogs. The action continues on Saturday, with the Montreal Alouettes aiming to solidify their grasp on a playoff spot in the East Division as they visit the last-place Ottawa RedBlacks as road favourites. Later on Saturday night, sole possession of the third place in the West will be on the line as the slumping BC Lions host the Calgary Stampeders.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers -13.5 vs Edmonton Elks
The Blue Bombers continued to roll in the first of two straight meetings with Edmonton. Winnipeg maintained the dominant form that has lifted them to the top of the CFL standings and the Grey Cup odds with a crushing 30-3 rout of the Elks. Now sporting a six-game SU win streak, the Bombers are set to hit the gridiron at Commonwealth Stadium for Friday night’s clash perched as lofty 13.5-point road favourites on the CFL odds at Sports Interaction, and with good reason.

The Bombers’ defence has played a key role as the team has set itself apart this season. Winnipeg has surrendered just over 11 points per game during their current win streak, and have limited opponents to single-digit point totals in six of their eight wins to date. Indeed, the Elks are one of just two teams to score at least 20 points on Winnipeg this season. They are also the only team that has managed to score a touchdown on the Blue Bombers in their past five contests.
Game over. 30-3 #Bombers
Score flatters the #Elks
D were on the field for most of the game. The offence was inept.
The special teams atrocious.
2-6 record for Edmonton & they face Winnipeg again next week.
It’s bad. Really bad.
On the field & off the field.

However, the Elks also have massive offensive concerns to overcome going into Friday’s clash. Currently riding a four-game losing streak that has dumped the team into last place in the West Division standings, Edmonton has fallen to defeat by double-digit margins in each of those recent losses while averaging just over 16 points per game.
The Elks have also turned in consistently horrid results on home turf, posting just one win in nine contests at Commonwealth Stadium since August 2019, and has surrendered over 30 points on six occasions during that stretch. Look for more of the same on Friday night, as the Bombers put a stake through Edmonton’s already faded playoff hopes.
The Pick: Blue Bombers -13.5 (1.91) at Sports Interaction
Montreal Alouettes -6.5 vs Ottawa RedBlacks
Opportunity knocks for the Montreal Alouettes, as they get set to visit the Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday afternoon as 6.5-point road favourites in CFL betting at Bet99. The Alouettes travel to the nation’s capital riding high after topping the RedBlacks by a 20-16 score on Thanksgiving Day. With the win, the Als pulled even with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at eight points, giving them a share of second place in the divisional standings. Now riding a two-game win streak for the first time this season, the Alouettes have made major gains on the Grey Cup odds. Where they now trail only Winnipeg and Toronto as a 7.50 bet.

The Alouettes have been largely steady on the road, winning four of their past six, capped by a 51-29 rout of the RedBlacks in their most recent visit to Ottawa last month. However, Montreal has failed to win three in a row in 17 overall outings since Labour Day 2019.

The RedBlacks search for answers to their current two-game SU losing streak. While both of those defeats have come on the road, this team has fared no better at home. The RedBlacks claimed their second victory over Edmonton this season in their last home date, a 34-24 win. However, success against other visiting opponents has been elusive, with their recent victory over the Elks marking their lone home win since June 2019. This could get ugly.
The Picks: Alouettes -6.5 (1.91) at Bet99
Calgary Stampeders vs BC Lions (Pick ‘em)
The Calgary Stampeders aim to win three in a row for the first time this season when they visit the BC Lions on Saturday in a clash pegged as a virtual pick ‘em on the CFL betting lines at Sports Interaction. Calgary rescued its own fading playoff hopes with wins in both halves of a home-and-home series with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, capped by last week’s 22-19 win on the road. Losers in four of their first five outings, the Stampeders have rebounded on the strength of a stingy defence that has surrendered just 18.75 points per game during their current 3-1 SU run.

That is bad news for a BC Lions squad coming off a humiliating 30-9 loss to Winnipeg. That defeat comes on the heels of a shocking 31-24 loss to Saskatchewan on home turf, in a game they led until the dying seconds. The Lions have now lost three of four overall at home, and have also struggled badly in recent home dates with the Stamps, losing six of their past seven while scoring just 13.4 points per game during that stretch.
The Pick: Stampeders Pick (1.87) at Sports Interaction
