The race for the top of the CFL’s East Division standings is set to heat up in Week 12. The action gets underway on Friday night when the Montreal Alouettes look to pull even with the division-leading Toronto Argonauts as slim home underdogs.
Returning to action after enjoying a bye last week, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will attempt to keep pace when they battle the Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday afternoon as heavy home chalk. Later on Saturday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers can clinch top spot in the West Division as they welcome the BC Lions to town as strong favourites before the weekend schedule closes out with the Calgary Stampeders taking on the visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Toronto Argonauts -1 vs Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes will be aiming to win four in a row for the first time since 2014 when they play host to the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night as slim 1-point underdogs at Sports Interaction. The Alouettes maintained their current tear last week with a decisive 27-16 win in Ottawa, which also lifted the club into sole possession second place in the East Division, just two points back of Toronto. Quarterback Matthew Shiltz led the way in his first-ever CFL start, connecting for 21 of 34 passes for 281 yards and one touchdown.

However, that did not stop the team from adding veteran depth under centre this week by trading for Trevor Harris, who joins the team after two seasons in Edmonton. The Alouettes have remained steady on defence, surrendering just over 17 points per game during their win streak, but struggled to contain the Argonauts attack in a 30-27 defeat last month at BMO Field that snapped a three-game head-to-head win streak.

The Argonauts arrive in Montreal well rested after 10 days off since their last outing, a slim 24-23 win in Hamilton that extended their win streak to three games. The Boatmen’s victory over the Ti-Cats also snapped a three-game slide on the road. However, they have work to do to halt a five-game losing streak at Percival Molson Stadium that dates back to 2015.
The Pick: Alouettes +1 (1.91) at Sports Interaction
Ottawa RedBlacks vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats -14.5
While the Argos and Als put win streaks on the line, two teams looking to shake off the current swoon clash on Saturday as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Ottawa RedBlacks as massive 14.5-point favourites at Bet99. The Ti-Cats have seen the East Division lead slip away while suffering recent losses to Montreal and Toronto, both on home turf. Those defeats put the brakes on an epic 13-game SU win streak at Tim Hortons Field, and have also diminished the team’s position on the Grey Cup odds where they now sit alongside the Alouettes at +650.

However, the Tiger-Cats are well-positioned to bounce back against the slumping RedBlacks, who have dropped three straight while scoring just 16 points per game. Ottawa has also stumbled badly on the road since opening the season with a 16-12 win in Edmonton, losing four straight while scoring a meagre 13.75 points per game.
The Picks: Tiger-Cats -14.5 (1.85) at Bet99
BC Lions vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers -11.5
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers assured themselves of a playoff spot with last week’s 26-16 win in Edmonton and can assure themselves of a first-place finish in the West Division standings with a victory on Saturday when they host the BC Lions as 11.5-point home chalk at Sports Interaction. Now riding a seven-game SU win streak, the Blue Bombers have also regularly rewarded loyal sports bettors by covering the spread in five straight contests before just falling short of the ATS win as 11-point favourites last week vs the Elks.

Conversely, the Lions find themselves on the verge of freefall after going winless on their recent three-game homestand. BC has been outscored by a wide 100-43 overall margin during its current slide, which includes a crushing 30-9 loss to Winnipeg on October 1. The Lions have been steady on the road, winning three straight while allowing just 13 points per game. However, that trend does not extend to recent trips to Winnipeg, where they have posted just one win since 2014.
The Pick: Blue Bombers -11.5 (1.91) at Sports Interaction

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Calgary Stampeders (Pick ‘em)
Second place in the West will be on the line when the Calgary Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a Saturday night clash pegged as a pick ‘em at Sports Interaction. Losers in five of their first seven outings, the Stampeders have roared back into the playoff picture with three straight wins, capped by last week’s 39-10 demolition of the BC Lions. The surge has helped revive the Stamps’ Grey Cup odds at Betway, where they have climbed to 7.50.

The Roughriders return to action after a much-needed bye looking to halt a two-game slide. Each of those defeats has come at the hands of the Stampeders, including a 23-17 loss in Calgary on October 2. Consistency has emerged as a real concern for the Riders, who have scored over 30 points in their two most recent wins but averaged just 13.25 points per game over their past four defeats.
The Pick: Stampeders Pick (1.91) at Sports Interaction
