DC UnitedD.C. United are up to third in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference after an impressive victory over Orlando City earlier this week. Wayne Rooney scored an incredible goal from inside his own half and that was the difference between the two teams on the scoreboard but D.C. United could easily have had three or four on another night.

Ben Olsen’s side are now unbeaten in their last five MLS home fixtures and it would take a brave man to back against D.C. United this weekend. At the time of writing, the hosts are a very tempting 21/20 with William Hill and that looks an excellent price – D.C. United are eight points clear of their opponents ahead of this weekend’s fixture.

At the other end of the spectrum, Toronto have improved after last year’s miserable season but Greg Vanney’s men are still lacking that consistency to challenge for another MLS Cup. It has been a case of ‘one step forwards, two steps back’ for Toronto at times in recent years and another disappointing result could be on the cards.

However, they do boast the firepower to cause problems for D.C. United. Jozy Altidore is a seasoned professional at this level and he is always capable of popping up with an important goal or two. Toronto will need their best players to step up to stand any chance of victory here and 888sport are going 3/4 for the visitors to win OR draw.

Rooney Can Lead D.C. United To MLS Cup

The former England international has been simply sublime in 2019, notching an impressive nine goals so far this season. Rooney is more than just a goal scorer though, he has a unique ability to dictate the tempo of a soccer match and that is arguably his greatest trait of all. At 5/4 with Ladbrokes to get his name on the scoresheet, Rooney is well worth backing.

Expect the hosts to get off to a fast start this weekend – the first goal in this game could be decisive. Coral are going 20/23 for D.C. United to score in the opening 45 minutes and that looks a solid price on paper. With the backing of the crowd, D.C. United can score in the first half for the second home game in a row.

‘Up And Down’ Toronto Hard To Back

Toronto FCArguably the most frustrating team in Major League Soccer, Toronto are impossible to back in most fixtures these days. Capable of winning away from home one week then capitulating back in Canada the next, inconsistency remains their biggest problem. Expecting a victory in this fixture would be foolish but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they do it…

Sporting Bet are offering 23/10 for Toronto to emerge victorious – which isn’t the worst price in the world for those fancying the Canadian outfit to hit top form. D.C. United have looked particularly strong on home turf though and that may be enough to sway punters away. That, and Vanney’s often questionable tactics and starting line-up decisions of course.

Score Prediction

D.C. United are easy to back at 21/20 with William Hill and their customers should snap that price up ahead of this weekend’s clash. With Rooney in devastating form, D.C. United have one of the best players in Major League Soccer on their roster and he can make the difference once again this weekend.

Take the 5/4 for Rooney to get his name on the scoresheet once again. On paper, it looks an excellent price with Ladbrokes.

TIP: DC United to win (21/20 with William Hill)
GOAL SCORER: Wayne Rooney (5/4 with Ladbrokes)
