Toronto FC are one of the top sides in Major League Soccer right now and another relatively easy victory could be on the cards here. The Canadian outfit are on the verge of something really special and the MLS Cup is well within reach if they maintain their current form as the postseason draws closer.
Meanwhile, San Jose Earthquakes are languishing just below mid-table over in the Western Conference and their supporters will be fearing the worst here. Not only are Toronto solid at home but San Jose tend to struggle on the road; this one could be a very one-sided affair if the form book is accurate.
As of September 8th, Toronto are priced at 2/5 with 888Sport to pick up the win and Greg Vanney’s men will be quietly confident of doing just that. The Canadian side are in supreme form right now having won 12 of their last 13 home fixtures – an incredible record to say the least.
San Jose have enjoyed reasonable success against Toronto in recent times but backing the visitors to win IN Canada might be a little far-fetched. With that in mind, looking at the draw – currently available at 18/5 with 10Bet – might be the way to go. San Jose have already drawn six of their Major League Soccer fixtures this campaign.
Last but not least, we have an away win. The Western Conference side may struggle to get going but if you fancy a shock victory, it is valued at 13/2 with Bet365. Toronto’s good run has to come to an end at some point so why not this weekend? San Jose are more than capable of causing the Canadian side problems.
Individual Goal Scorers
William Hill are offering 10/3 on Sebastian Giovinco to score the opening goal of the game and plenty of punters will be keen to back the Italian once again. He is the easy selection but represents solid value considering his form in Major League Soccer over the past few years – he is Toronto’s top goal scorer this campaign with a sensational 15 goals in just 22 games.
Meanwhile, Jozy Altidore is another elite competitor in the MLS and he could get his name on the scoresheet at some stage. San Jose may focus too much on Giovinco’s presence and the United States national team star is well priced at 21/20 with Bet365. Look no further than these two Toronto heroes for goals on Saturday night.
Other Side Bets
For me, this could be a whitewash. Toronto are well priced at 47/20 to win both halves with Winner Sports – Giovinco can fire his side to victory. Watch this space, free-scoring Toronto could run away with this one if they grab an early goal; San Jose won’t sit back and soak up pressure, they will attempt to counter in an aggressive fashion.
In addition, the over 3.5 market is also tempting at 7/5 with Betway. Goals are looking likely in this contest; even if Toronto score the vast majority of them. It isn’t all about Giovinco but his chances of a brace or hat-trick in this contest are significantly enhanced – San Jose can leave themselves exposed at the back, particularly away from home.
