Toronto FC have won just one of their last eight Major League Soccer games and you’d be hard pressed to find many neutrals backing the Canadian side at this moment in time. Greg Vanney is a man under pressure and most Toronto fans are expecting big changes at the end of the 2019 campaign.
A 1-1 draw on the road at Vancouver Whitecaps was a step in the right direction for Toronto in their most recent fixture. The visitors showed resilience to snatch a late equaliser after falling behind and Vanney’s side could improve following that result. Still, the 15/13 on offer with Betfred is a little short given their recent struggles.
By the same token, Sporting KC have also laboured through the first 14 games of the 2019 Major League Soccer campaign. Currently languishing down in 10th position in the Western Conference, backing the visitors with too much confidence would be foolish to say the least. This has all the makings of a damp affair…
Scoring goals has been a breeze for Sporting Kansas City so far this year – they are the joint-third highest scorers in the conference. Defensively, they have been found wanting at times though and that is a key reason for their 12/5 price with Ladbrokes ahead of Friday night’s contest.
Sporting KC have an excellent recent record against Toronto – the road team are unbeaten in their last eight meetings. Both teams to score has landed in six of those contests and that brings the 1/2 with Betway into play. Watch this space, we could be set for plenty of goals this weekend.

Uphill Struggle For Toronto In MLS Cup Bid?
Toronto fans are calling for Vanney’s head but that isn’t going to help midway through the campaign. Focusing on the present is an absolute must for Canadian soccer fans – the club can move to replace Vanney at the end of 2019. Victory is a must for Toronto this weekend but the 9/25 with 888sport for the hosts to win or draw carries more appeal.
From a betting perspective, it is hard to put too much faith in Toronto right now. One of the most inconsistent teams in Major League Soccer, Vanney’s side are hit and miss at the best of times. The 5/6 with Coral for Toronto to score in the first half must be respected…
Sporting KC In Same Boat As Hosts
Like Toronto, Sporting Kansas City have failed to inspire confidence in recent weeks. The race to finish in the MLS Cup playoff spots is heating up and Sporting KC may have already given too much of a lead to their rivals. A win to nil (6/1) will certainly help their cause.
Their last road win in Major League Soccer came back in October and Sporting KC will be up against it here. Toronto have struggled but the Canadian outfit will be quietly confident of getting the job done against a hapless Sporting Kansas City side.
Backing an outright winner is tough but Toronto can just about edge this one. The Canadian side are in desperate need of a victory and 15/13 could turn out to be a huge price if Friday goes to plan for Vanney’s men.
Sporting KC cannot be dismissed lightly though and the visitors will expect to put up a good performance. Both teams to score is appealing at 1/2 but it is perhaps a little short for some punters. Both teams to score in both halves is another bet worth looking into…
TIP: Toronto to win (15/13 with Betfred)
CORRECT SCORE: Toronto FC 2-1 Sporting Kansas City (8/1 with William Hill)
