It’s going to be a subdued week for the NBA following the untimely passing of Kobe Bryant on Sunday. The basketball world is in mourning for one of its greats and it’s already been hard for players to maintain focus on the court.

The show, however, must go on and on Wednesday, Toronto Raptors will host the Atlanta Hawks at the Scotiabank Arena. The NBA Standings show the sides at opposite ends of the table so it should be a comfortable night for the Canadians but do the sportsbooks agree?

Moneyline Odds

In the straight moneyline result markets, Toronto lead by some margin and you can currently pick up Nick Nurse’s men at odds of just 1.11 with PowerPlay. That’s a clear indicator as to the task awaiting the Hawks who come in at 7.00 with Bet365.

These two sides met in a reverse fixture just over a week ago as the Raptors came through by 122 points to 117. With defending NBA Champions Toronto sitting in second place in the table following the weekend’s matches, Wednesday’s clash should see a further win for the Canadians and that five-point gap should really be extended. Atlanta is the bottom side in the standings with just 12 victories from 47 games so far. Their win percentage of .255 isn’t the worst in the division but it’s an indicator as to where this game should go.

With Toronto rising to second on the back of some impressive recent performances, the odds setters have made an obvious and correct call.

Likely Prop Bets

If you’re looking for better value from Wednesday’s game, you will need to look at the props markets and we’ll start with total points. The most recent encounter between the two sides produced 239 points by the end of the match but that feels like a fairly modest figure. With home-court advantage, Toronto will surely power on and the combined total should go into the 240s and beyond.

Sports Interaction has one fixed line at 233 and to go over that will be met by odds of 1.91. That’s a safe bet in our opinion but we think you could switch to Bodog where Total Points at Over 239 will bring a price of 2.50.

In a game that could be heavily one-sided, those odds of 2.50 may offer the best value on the night but there are some other alternatives. Toronto Raptors to be winning at half time is available at 1.22 with Spin Sports and that’s a marginal improvement on those overall Moneyline odds of 1.11.

Another alternative from PowerPlay is for the Raptors to score more than 129.5 points and that lifts us up to odds of 3.50. That may be ambitious even for the second-placed side against the bottom team but that could be your most profitable price of the evening.

We’re not expecting any upsets in this game so you should be safe to back Toronto for the win if you want a small profit. For some more interesting odds, we can switch to those total points markets where you have options for safer stakes and something a fraction more adventurous.

Over 2.33 points would return 1.91 but on a comfortable night for the Raptors, we are happy to advise pushing that to Over 239 for those odds of 2.50 with Bodog. For a braver punt, the Raptors to return over 129.5 would be the stake but we’re happy to take these two bets and move on to more competitive matches in the days ahead.

Best Bets:

  • Toronto to win at 1.11 with PowerPlay
  • Total Points at Over 239 at 2.50 with Bodog
