It has been another disappointing campaign for the Charlotte Hornets. Currently languishing down in 10th in the Eastern Conference rankings, it looks like Charlotte are going to miss out on the playoffs once again. A perfect end to the regular season might be enough to sneak into the postseason but they will need everything to go their way.
The Hornets did just about enough to get past the New Orleans Pelicans last time out and another win could change the mood at Spectrum Center. Charlotte are one of those ‘nearly’ teams and a shock playoff run would certainly enhance their chances of a positive 2019/20 campaign. Watch this space, a win here versus a playoff contender will give them a lift.
With the Milwaukee Bucks clinching top spot in the Eastern Conference, Toronto will have to settle for second spot – the Raptors have already secured their sixth Atlantic Division title in the last seven years. Nick Nurse will have started to prepare for the 2019 NBA playoffs, which officially begin on April 13th.
Results are not imperative now for Toronto but performances are crucial. Momentum and confidence are both required to succeed in the postseason and Raptors fans will have their eye on the ultimate prize this year; the NBA Championship. Currently 12/1 with 888sport, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Toronto go close in their pursuit of glory.

Up And Down Hornets Struggling For Momentum
Consistency has been their downfall this season – Charlotte have yet to string a run of more than three wins in a row together. The Hornets have plenty of potential but a change may be needed at head coach in order to take the step to the next level. We could see a few big changes at Spectrum Center ahead of the 2019/20 campaign…
Kemba Walker is the standout name on this roster and he has been tasked with carrying the Hornets throughout the season. Charlotte cannot continue to rely on one player; you need more than that to succeed in the NBA these days. The 2019 NBA Draft could be decisive for future development as the franchise looks to climb the ladder.
Raptors May Rest A Few Key Players
Getting that balance between too much rest and not enough time on the side-lines is tough and Nurse must get that absolutely right if Toronto are to challenge for supremacy this year. With the rest of the NBA also deciding how to go about this, the Raptors could profit if they get it spot on.
Toronto have won five on the spin going into this contest and momentum is key. Canadian basketball fans will be cheering the Raptors on in the coming weeks and a run of defeats prior to the end of the regular season could ruin their hard work throughout the last five months. Watch this space, we could see a strong Toronto outfit in a bid to extend that run to six successive victories.
Take your pick here – this is not an easy game to call. The Hornets got back to winning ways last time out and that could help Charlotte ahead of what is essentially a must win game. However, Toronto are the form side and the Raptors will want to keep that feeling going for the next few matches.
This one could go right down to the wire. The stakes are high for Charlotte and the Hornets should keep this contest close but Toronto’s class may shine through in what should be an excellent preparation game ahead of the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
TIP: Toronto Raptors to win
CORRECT SCORE: Charlotte Hornets 104-111 Toronto Raptors
