The Toronto Raptors will be aiming to solidify their grasp on sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings when they host the surging Boston Celtics on Monday night as 2-point home underdogs at 888 Sport. The Celtics are embroiled in a tight four-way race for the top of the Eastern Conference standings as they arrive in Toronto pegged as 1.83 moneyline favourites. The Celtics are coming off a 134-112 win in Sunday night’s home date with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and have now six straight overall, and five straight on the road.

Celtics vs Raptors Betting Trends

Monday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Arena marks the fourth and final regular-season meeting between these Eastern Conference rivals. The Celtics earned the win in two of their three previous head-to-head meetings this season, capped by a 109-97 win when they visited Toronto back on November 28. Overall, the Celtics have dominated in recent regular-season dates with Toronto, winning 10 of 13 overall since October 2018, and four straight road contests. In addition to claiming victory, my double-digit margins in each of their past four road dates with Toronto, Boston has also been a reliable bet, going 9-4-0 against the spread in their past 13 overall. And with the Raptors averaging just 100 points per game over their past three head-to-head dates, the UNDER currently enjoys a 3-0-0 run in totals betting, ending a lengthy 8-2-1 run for the OVER.

Boston Celtics News & Notes

With Sunday’s win, the Celtics have finally reached the top of the Eastern Conference standings, where they now sit deadlocked with the Miami Heat, and sit a half-game up on both Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Sporting a middling 23-24 record in late January, the Celtics have quickly turned things around, avoiding consecutive defeats while going 24-4 SU over their past 28 contests.

The Celtics offence has steadily produced during their most recent win streak, averaging 128.2 points over their past five contests, and claiming victory by an average margin of 21.7 points during their current 6-0 run.

Jayson Tatum has emerged as a dominant force during the Celtics’ resurgence. The 24-year-old forward once again led the club with 34 points in Sunday’s victory over the T-Wolves, and has tallied an average of 33.6 points in 12 March contests. However, Tatum was largely contained in his three previous appearances against the Raptors this season, averaging just 16 points per game. That includes a meagre 8-point performance in the Celtics’ victory in Toronto in late November.

Celtics to win Eastern Conference

The Boston Celtics may be the hottest team in the East, but still offer considerable value on the odds to emerge as conference champions

Toronto Raptors News & Notes

Even a fire that forced a 70-minute delay and the evacuation of fans from Scotiabank Arena couldn’t slow down the red-hot Raptors in Saturday’s victory over Indiana. The raptors’ 131 points are the most they have scored on home hardwood this season, and their 40-point margin of victory is the fifth largest in franchise history.

Pascal Siakam led the attack, setting the pace for a fourth straight game with a team-high 23 points. “Spicy P” now leads all Raptors shooters with 22.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Montreal native Chris Boucher was one of three players to reach double digits off the bench, tallying 15 points and adding 10 boards for his 10th double-double of the season.

However, it was a much shorter night for Fred VanVleet, who saw just 17 minutes of action and didn’t return to action on Saturday following the lengthy delay. VanVleet continues to nurse a nagging knee injury and has averaged just 15.3 points per game over eight March appearances. In addition, the status of Gary Trent Jr. remains uncertain for Monday’s contest. Trent has missed three straight games with a toe injury and is listed as questionable versus Boston.
