Raptors vs Nets Betting Trends

Monday night’s matchup at Barclays Center marks the third meeting of the season between these two clubs, and the first date of a home-and-home series that wraps up at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night. The Raptors have dropped three straight to Nets, capped by a 131-129 loss in Brooklyn back on December 14. The Raptors’ recent slide against Brooklyn comes on the heels of an impressive stretch of domination, during which the club topped the Nets in 20 of 22 regular season clashes since the start of 2016. The Raptors have also tallied against the spread wins in three of five dates with the Nets, and in five of their past eight visits to Brooklyn.

High scoring has been a recurring theme when these two teams meet. The total has reached 219 or higher in six of their past seven dates. That has helped fuel a 5-3-0 run for the OVER in totals betting. Toronto has also regularly run up the score when visiting the Nets, scoring 121 or more points in three of their past four.

Toronto Raptors News & Notes

Scoring has come at a premium for the Raptors during their current 1-4 SU run. The club regularly found the mark during a preceding eight-game win streak, racking up an eye-popping 120.5 points per game. However, the Toronto attack has cooled off considerably since, with Raptors shooters tallying an average of just 99 points per game over the past five contests.

While the Raptors stormed out of the gate with 37 first-quarter points in Saturday’s loss to Atlanta, they have otherwise been prone to slow starts, scoring 19 or fewer first-quarter points in two of their three previous contests. Things have gone no better after recess, with the Raptors averaging just 17.3 third-quarter points over their past three contests.

One positive in Saturday’s loss was the revitalized play of Fred VanVleet, who led the squad with 24 points after scoring just eight points in Friday’s crushing 125-93 loss in Charlotte. However, VanVleet’s staus for Monday remains uncertain as he struggles with a knee injury.

With both the Nets and Raptors struggling offensively, look for Monday’s matchup to be a low-scoring affair

Brooklyn Nets News & Notes

The Nets received a huge lift from Saturday’s road victory over the defending champion Bucks. Kyrie Irving led all scorers with a season-high 38 points to seal the win. However, the enigmatic point guard remains unavailable to the Nets on Monday night due to the continuation of COVID-19 restrictions that prevent him from playing home games.

In addition to missing Irving, the Nets also remain without Kevin Durant, who is sidelined indefinitely by a knee injury. The club is left further shorthanded by the absence of ben Simmons, who has yet to make his debut in Brooklyn after being acquired by the club in a trade deadline deal that sent James Harden to Philadelphia. And while LaMarcus Aldridge has returned from injury, he has been used sparingly, averaging just 18 minutes of playing time over the past two games.
