As predicted last week, the Toronto Raptors proved too strong for the San Antonio Spurs and Nick Nurse’s side have now won eight of their last 10 NBA fixtures. On paper, Toronto are one of the strongest teams in the league and you won’t find too many punters backing against the Raptors on current form.
Toronto will be looking forward to Friday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Raptors are 26-6 at home this campaign and the Scotiabank Arena regulars will be hoping for another impressive victory here. Nurse will have his side fired up and ready to go ahead of this encounter. A win will cement their position ahead of the improving Indiana Pacers.
Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers have also been in decent form as of late – winning their last four NBA games. That bodes well for an entertaining game on Friday evening and Portland will be quietly confident of notching the upset. Watch this space, Toronto cannot afford to be complacent ahead of this one – the Trail Blazers have enough quality to put the hosts to the sword.
Currently 24-8 at home but 13-15 on the road, Portland have struggled to inspire confidence away from Moda Center this year. The Trail Blazers are capable of pushing Toronto to their limits and this one could go right down to the wire. Back against the visitors at your peril; a sixth successive year in the playoffs beckons barring a major shock in the next few weeks.
Due Date: 1 March, 2019
Raptors Ready For Big Push Ahead Of Playoffs
Still valued at 10/1 with 10Bet for the NBA title this year, Toronto are in fantastic form and it would take a brave man to back against the Raptors in their pursuit of glory. If nothing else, the Eastern Conference crown should be Toronto’s objective in 2018/19.
The Raptors suffered a shock home defeat to the Orlando Magic last week and that result should remind Toronto not to take their foot off the gas. Nurse knows how important form is ahead of the postseason and confidence is key – there is no place for cockiness though.
Toronto are second favourites in NBA betting odds for the crown but beating the Golden State Warriors is going to be difficult. However, focusing primarily on representing the West Conference in the NBA Championship series should be Toronto’s top priority.
Kawhi Leonard is showing no signs of slowing down and he could make the difference in this encounter. The former San Antonio Spurs star is averaging over 27.0 points per contest and Portland will be wary of his influence from his time over in the Western Conference.
Trail Blazers Continue To Go From Strength To Strength
Damian Lillard has been outstanding for Portland this year, averaging 25.8 points per game. However, ignoring the contributions of CJ McCollum would be foolish – he is also topping the 20 points per contest mark. With both men in fine form, the Trail Blazers will be difficult to beat.
The Denver Nuggets are well fancied to hold onto top spot in the Northwest Division but Portland are a general 12/1 chance with Betway to claim the divisional crown. Should the Trail Blazers win here, it may spur Portland on to chase down their Northwest rivals.
Toronto will head into this contest as favourites; mainly because of their recent form and Portland’s poor road record. The Trail Blazers are a funny team though and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see a close result.
With that in mind, taking the over 234.5 points mark is the way to go. Both teams can rack up hefty points tallies and it should be a thrilling contest on Friday night – you won’t want to miss this one.
TIP: Over 234.5 points
CORRECT SCORE: Toronto Raptors 124-120 Portland Trail Blazers
