We are 21 games into the new National Hockey League campaign and the Edmonton Oilers are sitting pretty at the top of the Pacific Division table.
With a 13-6-2 record, Edmonton are four points clear of closest rivals Arizona Coyotes but it is still early days in the context of qualifying for the playoffs. Oilers fans won’t be getting carried away just yet…
On paper, the Oilers have enough quality in the side to go close in their pursuit of reaching the postseason. Ahead of Saturday’s clash, 888Sport are pricing Edmonton at 4/6 to claim another important victory on home ice.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars have been rock solid so far this season. The Central Division is one of the most competitive divisions in ice hockey and the stars sit just six points off top spot through 20 games played.
It is still too early to make any concrete predictions regarding the Central Division standings – five teams are separated by just seven points. Divisional fixtures will be crucial but a win here for Dallas will send shockwaves across the league.
This has all the makings of a modern classic. Edmonton and Dallas are two teams heading in the right direction and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see both teams feature prominently in the playoff battle come the end of the campaign.
Event Date: November 16, 2019
Edmonton Looking Like The Real Deal?
The Oilers have always had lots of potential but they are finally starting to put a run of form together – led of course by dangerous duo Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. If Edmonton can keep both players fit, it could be a special season for the team.
Draisaitl has really stepped up to the plate in 2019, notching a team-leading 41 points in 21 appearances. The third overall pick from the 2014 NHL Draft could fire the Oilers all the way to the Stanley Cup at this rate.
However, McDavid is their main man and his impact and influence on and off the ice will be central to Edmonton’s chances of glory. As of November 15th, the Oilers are priced at 25/1 with William Hill to lift ice hockey’s ultimate prize this year.
Dallas Must Grit Teeth To Succeed In Division
As previously mentioned, the Central Division is one of the toughest in hockey. The Stars are on the verge of something special and we could see Dallas in the mix come the end of the campaign. A run of eight wins in their last 10 games will certainly help their chances.
Tyler Seguin has been a faithful servant to Dallas since making the step up to NHL level and he could make the difference for the Stars this weekend. With 13 points through 20 games, he isn’t setting the world on fire but he is a consistent performer at the highest level.
The Oilers are building momentum for a big Stanley Cup push and you won’t find too many punters writing Edmonton off just yet. It is still early days but victory over a confident Stars side will certainly do their own confidence no harm at all.
On home ice, Edmonton will fancy their chances of coming out on top. The Canadian outfit have been exceptional so far this season and they can confirm their status as the Pacific Division leaders with another impressive win on Saturday night.
If you’re looking for an anytime goal scorer, look no further than McDavid. With Draisaitl in fine form, punters can get a slightly better price on McDavid this season – he is Edmonton’s main man and could thrive in this encounter.
TIP: Edmonton Oilers to win (4/6 with 888Sport)
