- What: Game 6 in the NHL Playoffs Western Conference First Round between the Minnesota Wild and the St. Louis Blues
- When: Thursday, May 12, 2022
- Where: The Enterprise Center in Saint Louis, Missouri
Following back-to-back wins by the Blues, the stage is set for a huge Game 6 in St. Louis. In the prior two contests, the Blues were buoyed by consecutive games with five goals scored and also allowing two goals in each contest to the Wild. After a regular season where the two squads duelled in the Central Division throughout the year (with St. Louis again getting the best of Minnesota 53 wins to 49), it would appear that the Blues are once again on the precipice of taking out the Wild. However, Minnesota won’t go down that easy and was still able to win Game 3 in St. Louis.
With Game 6 not too far away, CBS will take a closer look at each team and what they need to do in order to win Thursday night.

Squad Spotlight: The Minnesota Wild
Led by left-wing Kirill Kaprizov (108 points and 47 goals during the regular season), the Wild are clinging to their playoff hopes as the series shifts back to the Enterprise Center. Following consecutive victories in Games 2 and 3 of the playoffs (by a combined margin of eight goals), the Wild have hit a cold streak. In the series’ last game on Tuesday night, the Wild were able to get out to a 2-1 lead following back-to-back goals from Kaprizov. However, their defence wilted down the stretch, with the Blues scoring four consecutive goals, including three in the third period, to put the game away.
In that contest, the other main team statistics were actually pretty even throughout the game. St. Louis and Minnesota were knotted up when it came to shots (32), faceoffs won (26) and penalty minutes (four). The Wild were even able to best the Blues when it came to overall hits (25 to 19). However, other than Kaprizov, the rest of the Wild offence was unable to generate any kind of consistent pressure on the Blues. While Minnesota did have a tough night, they did score on both of their Power Play opportunities and did an equal amount of shots to what the Blues accrued. Minnesota has had success against St. Louis in the past, but they need more production from the rest of their offence if they want to stay alive.
Squad Spotlight: The St. Louis Blues
In Game 5, the Blues were led by right-wing Vladimir Tarasenko (three goals) and goalie Jordan Binnington (30 saves). Thanks to an impressive onslaught of offence in the third period (three goals), St. Louis was able to come away with the victory and put pressure on the Wild for Game 6. At home this season, St. Louis went 26-10-5 and were able to consistently put teams out of commission at the Enterprise Center. Though the Blues did split their two home contests earlier this series in Games 3 and 4, they have a ton of momentum going their way in Game 6.
Beyond Tarasenko and Binnington, St. Louis also features some other stalwarts. This includes the likes of center Robert Thomas (57 assists during the regular season) and another goaltender, Ville Husso, who led the squad in wins during the regular season with 25. Though a victory in Game 6 is far from a sure thing, the Blues have had the Wild’s number this year at home. During the regular season, St. Louis put together an unblemished record of 3-0 against Minnesota at the Enterprise Center. In fact, other than Games 3 and 4, the Blues have had Minnesota’s number all throughout the 2021-22 season.
Prediction: Going into Game 6, it would appear that the Wild have a lot to fight for, but look for the Blues to pull away here and eliminate Minnesota.
