NCAAF National Championship 2022 Odds & Picks

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be vying for their fourth national title win in seven years when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday night in this season’s College Football Playoff National Championship as 3-point underdogs on the college football odds at Bet99. The Crimson Tide vaulted to the top of the CFP national rankings during a season-ending seven-game SU win streak and booked their ticket to the national championship game in convincing style while knocking off the previously undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats by a 27-6 score in the Cotton Bowl. The Bulldogs held the top spot in the national rankings tallying 12 straight wins to open their schedule, but were bounced to No. 3 by a stunning 41-24 loss to Alabama in this season’s SEC Championship game.

Bulldogs vs Crimson Tide Betting Matchup

In addition to marking the second meeting between these two teams this season, Monday night’s matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis marks the second time these teams have met in the College Football Playoff National Championship game. The Tide eked out a 26-23 overtime win in their last championship clash three years ago, and now ride a seven-game SU win streak in head-to-head action against Georgia since 2007. Alabama has claimed victory by wide double-digit margins in each of its past three dates with the Bulldogs and has gone 4-2-1 against the spreads during their 7-0 run.

The Crimson Tide have struggled to produce consistent results at the sportsbooks of late, going just 3-3 ATS over their past six. However, Alabama has won outright in five of its past six while pegged as an underdog, with each of their past two victories coming against the Bulldogs. Georgia has also been somewhat of a betting disappointment this season. The Bulldogs have failed to cover in consecutive outings during their current 4-4 ATS run. However, they have still outclassed opponents in all but one of their 12 of their outright wins this season, outscoring opposing teams by an average margin of 36.5 points.

Bulldogs News & Notes

The Bulldogs bounced back from their SEC Championship game loss to the Tide by manhandling the Michigan Wolverines in a 34-11 win in last week’s Orange Bowl. Georgia scored early and often, jumping out to a 17-0 lead, and limited the Wolverines to just three total points over three drives into the Bulldogs red zone before giving up a touchdown in garbage time.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett has been a steady presence under center for the Bulldogs. Bennett connected on three TD passes and racked up 313 passing yards in last week’s win over Michigan. The Georgia native also deserved better than what the team received in the recent loss to Alabama after tossing for three scores in that contest and has now found the end zone 10 times over his past three outings.

Crimson Tide News & Notes

The Crimson Tide continued to roll in last weekend’s demolition of Cincinnati. The team got things done on both sides of the ball, limiting the Bearcats to just 218 yards while piling up 482 yards of total offence. Now poised to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Mac Jones, who led the Tide to a pair of national championship wins, and is now a big reason why the New England Patriots have soared on the Super Bowl 56 odds, quarterback Bryce Young aims to build on his recent sensational performance.

Young was limited to just 181 passing yards in last week’s win over the Bearcats but connected on three scoring passes, and has now found the end zone 18 times over his past five outings. Brian Robinson Jr. Is also coming off a spectacular outing against Cincy. The senior running back ran for 204 yards to set a team record for most rushing yards gained in bowl games and has recorded a team-high 16 total TDs this season.
