Next James Bond odds - CanadianBettingSites

Daniel Craig recently made it official that the most recent release in the James Bond series of films “No Time to Die” will mark the last time he takes on the role of Secret Agent 007. With Craig departing from the role, speculation over who will be the next actor to take on the role has reached a fever pitch. Producers of the Bond series have let it be known that they are not limiting their search for the next James Bond strictly to white actors from England and Scotland. Indeed, the list of top candidates comes from very diverse backgrounds.

CanadianBettingSites takes a look at all the odds and potential candidates to become the next James Bond. Sports bettors getting in on entertainment wagering for the first time should refer to our guide to the best online sportsbook reviews.

Rege-Jean Page (3.75)

Best known by television viewers for his roles as Chicken George in the 2016 remake of the miniseries “Roots”, and his breakthrough role as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the hit Netflix series “Bridgerton”, Page has quickly climbed to the top of the James Bond odds. But despite extensive media coverage that has all but crowned him as the new 007, Page recently admitted that no one close to the Bond series has ever approached him about taking on the role.

Page checks a number of important boxes. In addition to seeing his star rise in recent years, at just 33 years old, Page is the only candidate at or near the top of the odds who is younger now than Craig was when he first starred in “Casino Royale” in 2006. The son of a Zimbabwean mother and English father, Page also checks the all-important diversity box.

Tom Hardy (4.50)

If a proven ability to play a wide variety of roles is what Bond producers are seeking in the next 007, then Tom Hardy should be a shoo-in. The 44-year-old has demonstrated his versatility with exceptional performances in roles like the villainous clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: Nemesis”, the titular character in “Mad Max: Fury Road”, and Batman’s chief adversary Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises”. he was also among the top of the list on the Academy Awards odds and picks for his role in the 2016 film “The Revenant”, earning a nomination as Best Supporting Actor.

At age 44, the clock is ticking for Hardy. However, the London-born actor has never been shy about his ambition to take on the role of James Bond. And he has the backing of at least one former Bond actor, with Pierce Brosnan remarking in an interview with the Mail on Sunday that he thinks “Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it”.

Henry Cavill (6.00)

Now that his stint portraying Superman in the DC Comics Universe appears to be at an end, Cavill might have time on his hands that he could fill by stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes. And why not? Cavill enjoys wide recognition among moviegoers, and could more than likely draw hesitant female consumers.

At 38 years old, Cavill is still young enough to portray Bond in a rebooted origin story. He has also proven his ability to play more diverse roles with his recent portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. Perhaps the largest concern about the Jersey-born actor is the negative criticism of the final two films in which he played Superman, with he and Ben Affleck earning the dubious distinction of Worst Screen Combo at the 2017 Golden Raspberry Awards for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”

Idris Elba (7.00)

An enormously popular pick among Bond fans, Idris Elba has been mentioned as a possible candidate since speculation of Craig’s departure began years ago. Named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine in 2017, Elba’s acting credits also include Star Trek and superhero roles. He has also garnered considerable praise for his starring role as a London detective in the British psychological crime drama television series “Luther”.

However, with the London-born actor set to turn 50 in 2022, he has likely aged out of the role already. That is unless Bond producers are eyeing a look at how 007 is faring in his advancing years.
