NHL Action for Feb 20th and 21st 2015

air_canadacentreThere are some exciting match-ups this weekend in the NHL for the Canadian squads. There should be some knuckle biters and some upsets, so take advantage of some great opportunities to bet on your favourite teams.

Friday Feb 20th

Vancouver Canucks @ New Jersey Devils

The Canucks had an exciting game against Minnesota this past week, winning 3-2. They have a few guys on injury that’s weakening their blue-line and letting in soft goals, but they have been playing solidly as of late. They might not be as good as they were in the recent past, but they still are sitting 3rd in the Pacific division and are fighting for points to over take their rival Calgary. Who would have imagined that if the postseason began today they’d be hosting them in the first playoff round.

Our Pick: Van over NJ

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Carolina Hurricanes

With their captain and top defenseman, Phaneuf, still out another 2 weeks for a hand injury, and the team much lighter in talent with the departure of Franson and Santorelli, the Leafs will have a tough time facing the Hurricanes who have embarrassed them twice in the recent past. They might have a chance to shake the monkey on their back but they have 23 losses in 27 games. They might skate harder to get some vengeance so we’ll give them one last chance to prove us right.

Our Pick: Leafs over Canes

Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames

Flames are doing very well, sitting in 2nd position in the Pacific division with 68 points. They beat a tough team in Boston earlier this week only to lose to Minnesota in overtime. The fire is there, and if they want to prove to themselves that they are true cup contenders they need to show their top division rivals they’re ready to fight. This should be a high scoring but close game, with a 1 goal difference that could go to overtime. Anaheim has lost 2 already so let’s make it 3.

Our Pick: Flames over Ducks

Minnesota Wild @ Edmonton Oilers

On a western road trip, they were challenged by a loss to the Canucks, but were able to pull out an extra point against the Flames and seem to be gaining momentum. Only 2 points out of a wild card spot they should not be taken lightly or counted out. with goaltender Dubnyk they are on fire! This game should be an easy two points for a team hungry for the playoffs. Expect them to come in and teach the Oilers a slick lesson.

Our Pick: Wild over Oilers

Saturday Feb 21st

Anaheim Ducks @ Edmonton Oilers

The next team walking in the door is even tougher than their last opponent, and playing two nights in a row should prove tough for a young and inexperienced Oilers team. You can expect a high scoring fast paced game, so bet for 6 plus goals. But without question Anaheim should have this game in the bag. Chose the easy win.

Our Pick: Ducks over Oilers

Florida Panthers @ Ottawa Senators

Florida has had a tough week with close losses to strong teams. An overtime win in Toronto was uplifting, and the Panthers will find themselves against yet another division rival. Only 3 points out of a wild card spot, with a game in hand Florida is very much in play. If Luongo holds up, they Cats should find success in Ottawa in the form of 2 points. The Sens almost out playoff chances won’t let them just waltz in, so we expect a tie and Sens to win in shootout.

Our Pick: Tie game

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Montréal Canadiens

Montreal hosts the Blue Jackets as they comfortably sit atop the Atlantic division and 2nd in the league, but as long as they play for those Montreal fans at the Forum they will have to show life in every shift they take. Taking such pride in an amazing home record, losing only 7 games on home ice will make winning there a tough task for Columbus. This should be a fast, high scoring game with 6 plus goals.

Our Pick: Habs over Blue Jackets

Winnipeg Jets @ Toronto Maple Leafs

The Air Canada Centre is like a morgue as the home team has basically mailed in this season. They Leafs have little life in them, and to face the fast and exciting Jets on a Saturday night will be a daunting task for Toronto who seem to be dragging their skates on the ice. The Jets have a wild card spot and have been only climbing upwards in the standings. This game will be a run-and-gun style with fast paced play making and scoring. We’ll easily take Winnipeg in this one, with 6 plus goals.

Our Pick: Jets over Leafs
