NHL Betting Preview: Canadian Clubs in Action Saturday Night

It’s another Saturday night on the Canadian hockey scene, with 5 out of 7 Canadian clubs in action tonight, it should be an exciting evening for betting, as 4 out of those 5 clubs have games that implicate their playoff positioning or hunt for that last wildcard position. It should provide for some great results.

Winnipeg Jets vs.Tampa Bay Lightning

Both teams are coming off some tough and close losses. The Jets were beaten by the Panthers Thursday, as well the Lightening went down to the Bruins in a shoot out.The Jets ha lost another close one with division rivals the Blues. Winnipeg is knocking on the Playoff’s door just one point outside a wildcard spot behind LA, with San Jose biting at their heels. It’s a tight race in the West and the Jets can’t make their 2 lots games into a streak of 3 otherwise they will get passed over. The Lightening also have a chance tonight to surpass the Habs, their division rivals to take first spot in their division and in the East. They won’t back down from take a hold of the lead, so expect a high flying offensive game from both teams.

Our Pick: Jets over Lightening, 6 plus goals

Montréal Canadiens vs. New York Islanders

Habs lost to the soaring Senators and were struck down by the Tampa Bay the game before. Siting on top of the Atlantic they should’nt have much to worry about except that the Lightening, who also play tonight, have the same 91 points as them. With one game in hand Montreal knows they must make every game count as they come into the stretch. Volleying for playoff spots will be important to see who they could meet in the first round. These are two powerhouse and highly skilled and offensive team, so you can expect a tough scoring lively game between rivals that could easily meet in the later rounds of the playoffs. The Isles need to get out of a downward trend and stop their losses at 2.

Our Pick: Isles over Habs, 5 and under goals

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks lost badly to the Kings Thursday 4-0. They are now one point behind their division rivals the Flames and can afford to falter anymore. They surely will not let their long time hated foes, the Leafs come into their building and embarrass them. Toronto is 4th from last place in the league and has a hard time playing consistently for a full 60 minutes. Being outplayed and decimated the night before by the Flames, the Leafs continue on a tour of the West that doesn’t offer any easy games. Canuck fans love hating on the Leafs so expect a hostile crowd. We expect lots of goals and penalty minutes.

Our Pick: Canucks over Leafs, 6 plus goals

Calgary Flames vs. Colorado Avalanche

Calgary steam-rolled over Toronto 6-3 on Friday night at home. They also beat the Ducks by the same score on Wednesday. When we say the Flames are hot, we mean white hot. This Calgary team is geling at the right time, wit the finish line in view, the Flames want to solidify their second seat in the division and get ready for playoff action. They will try to hone and refine their skills on weaker teams like Colorado who sit in the last 3 of the conference. LA is pushing to get more than just a wild card spot so to secure their position they will work hard in Colorado tonight. Expect more goals and fast North-South action.

Our Pick: Flames over Avalanche, 3-2
