With the end of the season coming to a close, there are some great match-ups ahead for the Canadian teams, some of which are battling to get into the playoffs and others which are desperately trying to keep themselves in the post season.
There are some good opportunities to make some bets here, as teams put everything on the line and get ready for what should be a spectacular post-season for Canadian hockey clubs and their fans.
Check out what’s on tap Thursday night in the NHL and start placing your bets!
Florida @ Toronto
In a loss to Minnesota on Monday night the Leafs really are just trying to crawl to the finish line to end this season. Florida who is chasing a wildcard spot behind Boston can’t afford anymore losses like their last one to Tampa Bay. This should be a high scoring game, with great goal-tending on both sides. Luongo just might steal this game, as the Panthers will need some extra support from the back end, so the team, like their in-state rival, can get some post-season ice-time.
Our Pick: Panthers over Leafs
New York @ Ottawa
The Rangers have a playoff spot, they are at the top of the Metropolitan division. With the loss to LA, and Lundquist out with a neck injury, who will instead sit out as backup, the Rangers might lose again against a hungry Senators team who just got the last playoff wildcard spot with their win over the San Jose Sharks two nights before. Boston is still at the Sens’ heels so they will have to play hard and get at least one point out of this match to keep their wildcard position. Boston is also in action against the Ducks so Ottawa just might have the scchedule on their side in this one.
Our Pick: Ottawa over New York after OT
Montreal @ Winnipeg
Nashville beat the Habs in overtime and the Jets lost to Vancouver, so with two teams who have a great rivalry and even greater fans, they will match up in Winnpeg to a lot of buzz and fanfare. The Habs have broken the 100 point barrier and are the leaders in the league where as the Jets have the last wildcard spot in the Western conference. Winnipeg on the verge of getting into the playoffs and giving their fanbase a run for their money, will fight to the teeth to get this win, urged on by e a rowdy crowd ready to cheer on it’s team.
Our Pick: Habs over Jets
Colorado @ Vancouver
The Canucks beat Montreal in their last game, solidifying their position in the Pacific division and now they face the lowly Avalanche who have nothing to fight for as they are out of the playoff contention. Coach Roy still will put an offensive team on the ice, especially against a Canadian squad, so they should play with extra energy. With Vancouver warming up for the post-season they will try out their line combinations which should give Colorado a chance, and make for a highly offensive game.
Our Pick: Avalanche over Canucks, 6 plus goals
