The Philadelphia 76ers are quickly blossoming into one of the most consistent teams in the Eastern Conference. With 21 wins and 12 defeats, the 76ers are in sitting pretty in second spot in the Atlantic Division – just three wins behind the Toronto Raptors at the time of writing.
Their road form has been hit and miss so far this season though; it is hard to put too much faith in a side with six wins from 15 road games. Philadelphia will take some stopping over the course of the campaign though – they have the best home record in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Toronto are 24-9 on the year and it would take a brave man to back against the Raptors on current form. Nick Nurse’s side have been formidable at Scotiabank Arena so far in 2018/19, winning 12 of their 16 home games.
The Raptors have won six of their last seven meetings with the 76ers and plenty of punters will fancy Toronto to extend that run this weekend. Watch this space, Nurse’s men will be determined to send out a statement against their closest divisional rivals.
Raptors Looking Very Strong
Toronto are on the verge of something special after a couple of near misses and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Raptors representing the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals series this year. Write Toronto off at your peril…
With a 4-2 divisional record, Toronto have been excellent against their close rivals this year and Nurse will be demanding another big effort here. Winning this encounter heading into the festive period could be huge for motivation and momentum.
Take the 12/1 available with 888sport for Toronto to go on and lift the NBA title this year. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see the Canadian outfit go all the way to the Finals and it would be foolish to write them off against anybody.
76ers Destined To Make Playoffs
The playoffs are within touching distance for Philadelphia this year and plenty of punters will be expecting the 76ers to challenge for the conference title. The East is certainly more open than the West and that leaves Philly in the hunt.
Joel Embiid is having a career year and the 76ers star is the one to watch from a Philadelphia perspective. Averaging over 26 points per game, Toronto will need to focus on shutting him down in order to ensure that the Raptors emerge victorious at Scotiabank Arena.
Philadelphia have lost three of their last five NBA fixtures though and the 76ers are in real need of a confidence-boosting win. Victory over the Raptors in Toronto would be huge for the remainder of the campaign. It would give the 76ers a psychological edge.
Toronto will fancy their chances on home soil – the Raptors are usually a safe pick in front of their own fans. Nick Nurse is a competent head coach and plenty of punters will fancy both teams to go quite far in the postseason. However, Toronto do that have competitive edge.
The 76ers will put up a decent fight though and you won’t find too many bettors backing a convincing Toronto triumph. The Raptors should have enough quality to just about pip their rivals to victory but Philadelphia will leave Scotiabank Arena with their pride intact.
Meanwhile, the over 228.5 points mark at 10/11 is well worth considering. Both teams are capable of scoring a hot streak and this could end up being high scoring.
TIP: Over 228.5 points @ 10/11
CORRECT SCORE: Toronto Raptors 123-118 Philadelphia 76ers
