NHL Betting Preview: Hockey Night in Canada

canada.jpegIt’s Saturday night in Canada again and that can only mean one thing: the countries beloved hockey teams are at it again, fighting the good fight and either trying to get into the playoff hunt or secure their positions. It should be an eventful evening for some great betting.

St. Louis Blues @ Toronto Maple Leafs

The high flying Blues are coming into Toronto to try to get two points from a team that is trying to just close out the season. The Leafs played the electric Tampa Bay Lighting on Thursday, and though they showed some life, they lost to Stamkos’ team who kept the Leafs at bay, stopping a 3rd period resurgence sealing the loss for the Buds. The Blues are too strong a team for the Leafs to overcome easily, and with only 19 games left in the season the race is getting tighter, to secure and solidify play-off rankings so St. Louis will not let up.

Our Pick: Blues over Leafs, 6 plus goals

Winnipeg Jets @ Nashville Predators

Winnipeg has a wild card spot and would like to encroach on Minnesota to get higher in the standings. They were beaten badly by Washington on Thursday 5-1 and it was a harsh wake up call as the Jets see what fast and solid defensive teams are like to play against. Winnipeg gave up to many short-handed chances putting them in a whole. The two-goal deficit after one period was just too much to overcome and that’s why if the Jets want to win against their Western conference rivals, they need to buckle down and play sound defensive hockey.

Our Pick: Preds over Jets, 6 plus goals

Montréal Canadiens @ Arizona Coyotes

The Habs are coming off a little rough patch with their last two losses, one to the Sens and then right after another loss to the Panthers. These games weren’t close and Montreal will be looking to get back on track against the lowly Coyotes. Look for a tough match against a team that has nothing to lose, so the Habs have to play smart and well controlled hockey to get the two points. Expect Arizona to be overwhelmed by Montreal’s stamina and talent.

Our Pick: Habs over Coyotes, 5 and under goals

Vancouver Canucks @ San Jose Sharks

This is an important game, as the Sharks looks to save their season and secure a wild card spot, they are only a few points behind a play-off bid and the Canucks will try to keep them at bay at the Shark tank. The Canucks are coming off a poor performance in New Jersey Friday night with a 4-2 loss, and surely they will not want to let Calgary who is only 2 points behind them to make any gains. It should be a hard fought game between these two seasoned rivals but home ice advantage should be the deciding factor. Our Pick: Sharks over Canucks, 6 plus goals
